Strathcona Centre Community League

Membership Information

Membership Drive coming in September!

The new membership year starts Sept 1, so volunteers (where possible) will be coming door-to-door to sell the 2009/10 memberships in September and October.  You can also contact us directly to buy a membership.  Membership fees remain $20/family, $15/single, $5/senior.

We can always use more volunteers, so if you can help out, give us a call - the amount of time you spend and when you schedule it is flexible, and you can enjoy a wine and cheese kick-off gathering with other volunteers!

Contact:  Jeanie McDonnell (433-0521 or jeaniemc@telus.net) or Lois Hameister (439-5774 or loish@athabascau.ca ).

If you are not sure what community league you could belong to, please visit the EFCL website here.  You will need to know your postal code.

Q: Who can be a member of the Strathcona Centre Community League?

A.   Any resident within the stated boundaries may become a member upon payment of the membership fee, provided s/he behaves in accordance with the League’s objectives and bylaws.

There will be five categories of membership:

Single: $15/year
Family: $20/year

 Membership Policy

"All active community league members, in addition to the standard membership fee, will be required to work 1 casino or 1 1/2 bingos per family, during each 12-month period." *

An active member is one who participates in any community league-sponsored program such as soccer, basketball, ice facilities, tennis courts, or ball hockey. Members of other community leagues who participate in a Scona community league program will be required to work a bingo or casino.

Members of the community league who are exempt from this requirement are board members, program directors, head coaches, 1 assistant coach per team, and non-active members (those who belong to the community league but do not participate in any programs).

At the time of registration for an activity or when obtaining a league membership, members will select one of the available dates for working a bingo or casino and make out a post-dated cheque in the amount of $75.00 to the Strathcona Centre Community League. If you or your designate fulfils the commitment to working the bingo or casino, the cheque will be destroyed or returned to the member, if requested. If the member does not fulfil such a commitment, the cheque will be cashed.

*In practice, only 1 bingo or casino is required during a 12-month period.  Compare this to other organizations that may require one bingo per child per activity per season.
